JUMP uses MIDI to talk to your hardware/software synthesizers or samplers, including the General MIDI synthesizer found in most PCs.

The range and quality of sounds available depends on what MIDI devices you have. Use the Mix Page to configure JUMP to work with your particular MIDI setup - click on the Port controls to select which MIDI output devices to use.

If required each of JUMP's tracks can control a different device, so complex MIDI systems using a combination of software and hardware are possible. JUMP can also act as a synchronisation master by transmitting MIDI Clock Sync.

The Export facility lets you transfer songs from JUMP to other MIDI programs using the standard MIDI file format.

A full discussion of MIDI is beyond the scope of this guide, please visit Useful Links at www.hardnote.com for further resources.

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a widely adopted standard for handling musical information. It uses digital codes to represent music as a series of events such as note on and note off.
