Use these buttons to specify how many steps are used in the motif. A Lead/Bass motif may use anything from 1 to 12 steps. Each motif can use a different number of steps.
The table below shows some typical situations.
Simple Medium Complex 4 beats/bar 1 or 2 4 or 8 8 3 beats/bar 1 or 3 6 or 9 9 or 12
Higher numbers of steps are not required because each step refers to an action rather than just a single note. One action may result in several notes being played.
The default number of steps for Lead/Bass motifs is 8. The Set Number of Steps for 3/4 Time function in the Options Menu changes all Lead/Bass motifs to use 6 steps.
